I was very disappointed by the piss poor way that the White House handled the "festivities" in Charlotte. Here is how I would have recommended that the President respond:
"The events that unfolded this past weekend in Charlotte, Virginia were local events, happening at community level. There was an unfortunate death - and I offer my condolences - but the events in question were not of extraordinary nature, in the big picture of things. In fact, that same weekend, nine people were gunned down in Chicago alone, and six were killed in Baltimore. I deplore the criminal violence that plagues many of our cities, but I am not in position to react to each individual tragedy.
According to my staff, the Governor of Virginia at no time requested Federal assistance in dealing with last weekend's events within his state. If this is not correct, I ask that he send me details of such a request. I am not even aware of any request by the Mayor of Charlotte for Virginia States assistance in handling the local situation. The events of 11 and 12 August were local events in a college town, and I am quite certain that the local community does not feel that Federal law enforcement or other Federal actors should be playing a role in their local civic environment, absent any initiative on their part to invite Federal Assistance.
But - now that partisan activists have made it a point to criticize the non-existent Federal role in last Saturday's events, we have taken a look at those events, and as a result, I have instructed the US Justice Department to launch a civil rights investigation into the following reported violations:
1) Did local law enforcement officials purposefully force participants in a lawful and permitted rally to depart the rally location by "running the gauntlet" through counter protesters who were clearly intent upon violently attacking the participants in the authorized rally, thereby depriving the rally participants of their constitutionally guaranteed rights to peacefully petition their government, without fear of retribution?
2) Were the events in Charlotte last weekend effectively a "false flag" exercise, all scripted and directed by one single party? I.e. were the "leftists" in fact paid agitators, as alleged at Why Was a Crowd Hire Company Recruiting $25 per hour Political Activists In Charlotte Last Week? and were the "white activist" protesters actually unwitting "useful idiots" assembled and brought into the picture by leftist manipulators as "sacrificial lambs" to be assaulted by armed counter-demonstrators, as alleged at Charlotte "Unite the Right" Organizer Jason Kessler Was an Occupy Movement Obama Supporter thereby depriving depriving the rally participants of their constitutionally guaranteed rights to peacefully petition their government, without fear of retribution?
In closing, I wish to reiterate that under the Constitution, the Federal Government is not responsible for local municipal law enforcement, except under conditions of declared martial law. This applies even in situations such as that which unfolded in Charlotte this past weekend, wherein local law enforcement officials appear to have completely abrogated their responsibilities to maintain law and order.
